Onteora park is a small, private community outside of
Tannersville. It was founded by Candace Wheeler and
her brother, Frances Thurber in 1883 originally as an artist
colony. They originally named it Lotus Land.

Artist Seat is named for inscriptions
carved by Thomas Cole and Asher Durand, and other Hudson
River School Artists who frequented this unique spot.
One of the lakes shown on the postcard is Colgate
Lake.
