Route 23A runs from Catskill to the town of Prattsville.     Route 23A is also known as the Rip Van Winkle Trail, it was constructed in the years 1914-1921.     Prison chain gangs were used during Route 23A's construction.     Wilkpedia has an informative article on Route 23A.
